26 miles off the coast of California is the beautiful island of Catalina. Hop on the ferry and leave reality behind for a little while. Jim and I have been going to the island for our anniversary for the past three years and decided it was time to share the island with the kids. Guess what? They loved it. The grilled hamburger joints, the ice cream waffle cones, the sound of the surf, walking Crescent Avenue with all the shops and palm trees, and the feel of wet sand on their feet added up to a wonderful family memory. We had a great time. By all accounts, the most fun was kayaking around the island in two seater kayaks, finding a private beach, and then snorkeling.
The kids rounded up shells and found fish watching their new favorite passion. Jim and I relaxed on the beach just watching them have fun. We love making these kind of memories with our kids. Here are some pics though none of them are of kayaking. We drew the line at taking the 5D on the kayak and forgot to bring the point and shoot. Oh well. Next time.

Love the pictures! They make me want to go to Catalina again!
I also love the photos!
I have been to that part of Catalina. I got my dad a Dodger star fish ornament there. Catalina is so pretty. I wish I could stay for a while. Went I went it was a day field trip.
Wow...that brought back memories, I went there once for Scout Camp. It was awesome, even when the stupid boar came running into our tent and we all pulled a Jackie Chan and somehow ended up in the tree in like 2 seconds... looks like yal had a lot of fun!
"Pulled a Jackie Chan"--that made me laugh. I can just see three to four smelly scouts climbing up a tree.
