Spring Break Frivolity

Oh the joys of Spring Break. One week off, slap dab in the middle of second semester, it boggles the mind how great it is. This year we decided to do a lot of day trips instead of the taking off and leaving the house for the week.

We went to the LA Zoo and Griffith observatory. I had never been to either and was surprised to find a beautiful botanical garden at the zoo. Ashlynn, being the flower girl, absolutely loved it. Her two favorite things in one place: flowers and animals. The observatory was fascinating. Well worth the trip. The museum was really cool. A kind docent told us to make sure to visit the bottom two floors which were virtually empty because people don't realize they are there. The Hollywood sign was clearly visible behind the observatory but a three mile walk...so next time.

We stood in line with another billion people to watch the newly released 3D version of Monsters versus Aliens. We took the kids bowling which we used to do all the time at BYU when Jameson was really little and would sit on the floor and push his bowling ball down the land.

And we went to the beach. A lovely beach called Salt Creek in Aliso Viejo. It was true break because none of us wanted to get back to life as normal.

Below are a few of the pics from the week. Hope everyone is well and enjoying their own beautiful spring weather.

Love the photos.

Been decades since I've been to the observatory - but always thought it was waaay cool - I could watch the pendulum all day.

I always enjoyed the LA Zoo. Been many times. I could watch the primates all day.

About spring weather... we got an inch of snow yesterday and might get more tomorrow... and it's currently 14 degrees.

Our Spring Break is only ever three days tied to a weekend - and it will be the weekend after General Conference.

I grew up going to the observatory. I love it. Haven't been in years but hopefully when the kids get a little older. We did day trips too this year but boy it sure went fast! Darn it! :)
