Well we got a couple of Alien Bees. If you don't know what those are, nevermind. Just look at what they can do.
Bees are good.

In the studio. She actually is the only kid who will do this for us. The others run. This is the look you get when a bug is flying around. For those who care, here is the setup: Two B800s, one into a very close 32" x 40" softbox about 45 degree angle from subject camera right, one with honeycomb grid (the stand on the left with reflector attached), and a Vivitar 285HV into a small shoot through on the background. This was our first day with the setup, so prepare yourselves for a bunch more. If you get sick of these, go read Joe's blog. He always has something interesting going on, even if 27% of it is about bodily functions.

These are awesome!!! Can Paisli come pose? :)
I was looking all over for a freakin bee! I thought maybe Elise was stung, but then thinking if she was stung, why would the title be praising bees? I should've kept reading to understand what a bee was. Although, even though I know what sort of bee you're talking about now, I still don't know what one is.
Lucky! Do you use them with softboxes? Umbrellas? Or bounce them?
Daniel, I got one large softbox, and a couple of umbrellas for the Alien Bees. I also got four honeycomb grids which are really great for focusing the light. We are experimenting right now but it's fun. Those Vivitar 285HVs are cool. They're cheap (relatively) and I am using those on stands with smaller umbrellas right now. We did a shoot today where I used one AB in the softbox as the key, one AB with a 20 or 30 degree honeycomb on the background, with one Vivitar into an umbrella also on the background. Then one Vivitar and a shoot through umbrella for fill. They came out pretty nice. We'll post some more. I got two optical triggers for the Vivitars. They're great because they're so light and portable. Just put them wherever. Anyway, I could go on but you're the only one who cares anyway. (We'll talk later).
