Most of my students are wonderful people. However, there are a few that need to go to military school or that scared straight program with ex-convicts. You know the kind. The kid in my 4th AND 6th period classes with the 32 separate discipline actions from last year, I could do without. I would love to turn him over to the convicts. He is a vortex of negativity. This kid even glared at cute little Rosita who gets along with everyone. I think I will move her...somewhere safe. I hope I don't end up on the six o'clock news. Seriously.
My kids had various reactions about the first week of school. Jameson is a junior this year. He has quite an anarchist point of view of public education. Check out his blog at JamesonHeywood.blogspot.com. Hilarious.
Ashlynn is the oldest of her classmates because of her December birthday and pretty much is ready for college. Counseling messed up her schedule and she was placed in regular ed classes with all the kids who failed last year. Not a problem if she too had failed last year, but Ashlynn's grades are represented by the first letter of the alphabet not the sixth letter. By Wednesday she was back in her safety zone-honors classes. Whew. NOT FUN TO LIVE WITH on Monday and Tuesday. A fish out of water.
Matthew is getting his first taste of what educational practices should be avoided in the classroom. Coming from the gifted program at the elementary school and placed in a regular class whose curriculum involves the heavy use of workbooks and questions at the end of the chapter has really dampened his love of learning. They won't even let him bring his guitar to school. He is moping these days, but said that there are several cute girls in his class so maybe things will get better.
Elise has been singing since Monday. Nothing really new about that. She sings all the time. Except now she is singing and turning cartwheels. She loves her teacher. She loves her school. She loves learning cursive. She even loves the lunchroom. Oh to be eight again or just Elise...sigh.
So how is everyone else dealing with the first days back to school? Moms? Students? Principals? What is your BEST or WORST? Throw it at me. Tell me how much you hated that teacher in high school or how much you hated history. I can handle it...after a good night's sleep.

Ben -- He's my headache this year.
"Ben! Stop jabbing Lili with your pencil!" "I wasn't jabbing her -- I was only poking her."
"Ben! Stop burping in Ana's face." "I wasn't burping -- I was just pretend burping."
"Ben! Stop making fart noises with your armpit." "I wasn't making fart noises with my armpit -- I was really farting."
Only 177 more days with Ben.
Ben and Jake would get along well.
I was thinking about you and wondering how your first week went. I hope it gets better.
I actually loved history and liked my history teacher AND got an A. Sorry to disappoint, but I had a great experience in my history classes!:D Hope you're not too tired this week, and you can stop by any time!
I came into my office this morning and found mouse droppings all over my desk.
School can be really fun, or it can suck. A lot of that has to do with finding the fun. Much like life.
Mouse turds suck. But it sure was fun trying to flick them into the trashcan across the room.
Joe- you must have a "mousenetic" personality. Ewwwww...that was bad. It's the tiredness talking.
Things with Jake are better. He actually likes my class (twice 5th and 6th)...he's also on medication "for anger" which probably explains why he likes my class.
Jake's probation officer has high hopes that he be expelled by October. Kinda sad, actually.
Mandi- I loved history too as is obvious. =) See you next Wednesday!
Can I borrow some of Jake's medication for Ben?
I'm through with school. Forever. (Pleeease let it be forever).
Daniel-
Jameson wants to know if he can come to live with you.You know...Great minds think alike.
